Event Types

Every event in TourLife has a type. The type tells your team at a glance what kind of day it is: a festival show, a rehearsal or a travel day. Each type has its own icon in the event lists and calendar.

Default event types

TourLife ships with a set of default event types:

  • Shows: Arena show, Club show, Festival show, Theatre show, Live stream and Try Out
  • Everything else: Build-up, Day Off, Meeting, Promo, Photo Shoot, Radio Session, Rehearsal, Release, Studio and Travel Day

Choosing which event types to use

Not every project needs all of the default types, and some need types of their own. In Admin → Event Types, the Event Types Configuration setting decides which types are available in your project:

ConfigurationResult
Default Event TypesOnly the built-in event types listed above
Default and Custom Event TypesThe built-in event types plus the ones you create yourself
Custom Event TypesOnly the event types you create yourself

Click Save after changing the configuration.

Creating a custom event type

  1. Go to Admin → Event Types.
  2. Click Add Event Type.
  3. Pick an icon and enter a label, e.g. Corporate gig or Soundcheck day.
  4. Check Counts as a show day if events of this type are actual performances. See Show days below.
  5. Click Add.

Use the edit button next to a custom event type to change its icon, label or show day setting.

Show days

TourLife counts the number of show days, for instance in bookings. Only events with a type that counts as a show day are included:

  • For the default event types, these are the types listed under Shows above.
  • For custom event types, it's the Counts as a show day checkbox.

Cancelled events are never counted. An event that spans multiple days counts every day it spans.

Deleting a custom event type

You can only delete a custom event type when no event uses it anymore. If some events still do, TourLife lists them so you can open each one and change its type first.

  • To set the type new events start with, see Default Event Type.
  • Users who can see events they aren't assigned to can be limited to certain event types. See Managing Users.
